Who would believe that we would reach the point where volunteer astronauts would be required for a one-way trip to colonize Mars? A non-profit organization called Mars One plans to create a global reality TV event that is related to the colonization of Mars. An event that is estimated to cost about 6 billion dollars. Co-founder Bas Lansdorp calculates that most of the cost of the one-way trip will be covered from broadcasting rights revenues and sponsorships.
